What framework is the site built on?
All the sites I build are built on WordPress. When starting out many people choose to use Wix or SquareSpace to build their sites. This seems a good solution, but they become costly over time. The pitfalls are that you don’t own your site and as your business grows so should your website, often it is not possible to add in the functionalities you need. WordPress will allow for this, plus your site will be yours!
Is the domain name & hosting included?
Domain names and hosting have an ongoing monthly or yearly cost, so these are not included in the cost of the one-page scrolling website. I prefer for you to be in complete control of your site rather than hold you ‘host’age. Domains cost around £10/€12 per year and hosting around £6-£8/€7-€10 per month. I can either set this up for your with your payment details or walk you through set up on a video call.
Can the website be made to match my branding?
Of course! I will create the site using your branding colours & fonts and can upload your logo also. If you have a custom font (i.e. not a Google font) this will need to be provided to me with proof of licensing for web use.
I sell products, will this website have a shop?
This deal is solely for what is known as a ‘brochure’ website. A brochure site gives your company or product a web presence and acts as an online version of a business card. Brochure sites convey a sense of permanence and credibility to your customers, and also provides them with valuable information, such as contact details, opening times and a way to contact you.
If you sell products you will need an e-commerce site which would need an individual quote.
Do you provide the copy?
No. All copy for the website has to be supplied by you. You are best placed to write the copy as this way it will reflect your own voice and ideals for your brand. If you really struggle with writing copy then there are copywriters that I work with that are available at an extra cost.
Is maintenance included?
Like hosting, maintenance is an ongoing cost and not included but available separately. We do recommend for your site to be kept regularly maintained and I will provide a short video showing you how to do this. I will also include instructions on how to add content to your site yourself. If a site is not kept maintained (plugin updates, theme updates etc) it leaves it open to brute force attacks where bots will use your domain to create spam links. This can lead your site to being blocked by Google and other search engines so it is essential to keep your site healthy. I offer maintenance packages starting at €50 a month which includes any yearly renewal costs of premium plugins.
How long will it take to build?
Usually one-page scrolling sites take between 2 & 4 weeks to build depending on the complexity, provision of copy & photos and current lead times.
